speedlincs

Speedlincs stands for “live incorporated sound” and reflects a collective who keep up with the times and tempo of futuristic breakbeat music. After a little spell re-grouping and shuffling of team members and with four releases already behind them – from Skab Alliance, Psy Co Lab & DJ Vital, Next Wave of Jazz and Search Engine - the crew are gearing up to bring you their new seasoned flavours. Spokesman for the day, Vital, talks us through the origins of Speedlincs and what they have been up to of late.

Vital and crew originally formed when promoting a series of events by London Bridge. “We started off doing a little promotional thing for Beverley (BPM) and for one of the then new off-shoots of No U-Turn, Saigon. It didn’t go off as well as expected so we changed the name and moved on to Gaia Live to do a regular friday night bringing a crew of about ten to twelve people on rotation. We brought various names from Wacko to Satin Storm to Underground Software and a whole host of new names as well.”

Under the early name Skab Alliance four members toured extensively at past Tribal Gatherings, Glastonbury’s and stopped off in Amsterdam, the States as well as other places. A little later the quartet would rename themselves The Next Wave of Jazz. After their third release (‘What We Die For’) their singer, Naby Roberts, unfortunately parted ways through the birth of her child and an ensuing change of religions.

“We’ve been working with a few other vocalists now. We’ve got a release lined up with DM Cut and I-One who will be featuring in the near future. DM Cut is one of the residents at Future Thinkin who have been working with Billie Jo’s Traffic night down at Club Colosseum and have been doing very well. DM Cut is also getting prop’s from Fabio for his forthcoming releases, as well as other people.

We’ve got DJ Effect on board who is also part of a forthcoming label called Cyber City. Underground Software and Simon Templa are behind Cyber City, they are also with us and are remixing ‘What We Die For’. That’s just about ready to go backed by another remix from someone that we are not going to name just yet. Not to mention a few of the scenes past and present acclaimed producers that are also going to be on remix duties in the very near future...

We’re bringing through Backlash, who were part of the Pressure FM deejay team. They’ve been producing for about three to four years. They’ve got the skills but haven’t released anything as yet. They’re getting pretty good responses from deejays and producers alike.” In addition to this Speedlincs will be showcasing an array of other producers, vocalists and emcees. Veteran producer Simon Templa, Gaia Live producer Codec, Sketch & Code and emcee LSD all look to have their sites set on a release for the label.

More touring over summer will see the crew take in a proposed seven city hit around Europe which they hope will just be the core of a larger Speedlincs invasion. For promoters interested please contact Vital – vital@gaialive.co.uk – and don’t forget you can listen to the Speedlincs showcase on Gaia Live each and every Friday from 6 till 8 pm.

Next release will be from Backlash due late summer and backed with a remix. After that the grand ‘What We Die For’ remix will touch in September. DM Cut & I-One deliver their first strike soon after.
